MRI Goggles Provide Video Relief to Nervous Patients

MRI Goggles

With the Foundation’s help, El Paso Children’s was the first hospital in six states to provide MRI Goggles for our pediatric population.  Any adult who has had an MRI knows the trial (read agony) of not moving for a significant length of time during an MRI.  Now, imagine a child in that position.  That all changed with MRI goggles.  The patient brings their favorite video.  The technician plugs it in. Puts the MRI goggles on the patient and before you know it it’s over.  With the flip of a switch the patient can see and hear the technician as they check in and offer reassurance.  Then back to the movie.  (Now kids cry when the leave because they didn’t get to finish their movie.) Which can greatly reduce the need for sedation
